Collagen is the primary structural protein responsible for maintaining the skin's firmness, elasticity and youthful appearance. From our late-twenties, natural collagen production begins to decline, with natural exposures (i.e. UV and lifestyle choices) accelerating this process.
Supporting collagen production is therefore an important part of maintaining healthy skin, and reversing visible signs of ageing.
Polynucleotide therapy is an advanced regenerative skin treatment, designed to restore skin health from within. Using highly purified DNA fragments derived from farmed trout gonads, polynucleotides help to stimulate the skin's natural regenerative response, promoting cellular repair, tissue regeneration and fibroblast activity to support collagen and elastin production.
Taking a proactive approach to skin health with regenerative treatments, such a polynucleotide therapy, stimulates the natural repair processes, enhancing hydration and restoring skin quality. Investing in your skin early can help maintain healthier, firmer and youthful-looking skin.

Polynucleotide treatment can be used to:
The treatment used at Dr Antonia's Clinic is Plinest®.
Plinest® - A treatment used for regeneration of the forehead, neck and cheeks.
Plinest® Eye - A treatment formulated for use underneath and around the eye, aiming to reduce abnormal pigmentation, dark circles and loose skin.
Plinest® Newest - A treatment containing Hyaluronic Acid and polynucleotides, used to treat cheek, neck and lips/peri-oral lines.
The treatment involves multiple superficial injections of the gel with a very fine, small needle. The treatment can feel 'stingy' although this quickly resolves. Skin numbing cream is applied prior to treatment to ease the momentary discomfort.
Immediately after the treatment, you will notice small bumps where treatment has been injected, accompanied with surrounding redness/swelling. These will resolve, likely within 48hours.
As this treatment aims to promote collagen production and improve skin quality, results can take time. Results should be expected within three to six months, with results lasting months to years.
For optimal results, a course of three treatments is recommended, with sessions spaced 2-3 weeks apart. This treatment protocol allows the regenerative effects of therapy to build progressively.
It is advised for a single maintenance treatment every six months to maintain skin quality. Consider this a booster!
Yes! Polynucleotide therapies are regularly combined with dermal filler injections and anti-wrinkle treatments to enhance natural results. However, you can achieve good results with polynucleotide treatment alone.
Unfortunately, polynucleotide therapy is contraindicated during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It is not suitable for patients with an active skin infection, autoimmune disease or active cancer.
Please do contact the Clinic if you have any questions regarding the above.
No. Polynucleotide treatments help to improve skin health and regeneration, not provide structure, fullness and support like dermal fillers.
